Recap Of Summer 2018
I just moved back to Jyväskylä and ended my last week in Helsinki. This summer exceeded my expectations in so many ways. As well as feeling very sad as I packed up all my last things and closed the door of our lovely summer home for the last time I also felt extremely grateful. Grateful for the chance to see what it's like living in Helsinki and for all the lovely memories I made during the past three months. I also learned a lot through this experience and I have to say that even though the three months were mostly filled with happy moments I did shed some tears as well. Never before have I spent so much time alone and I know that it was definitely exactly what I needed after having a super hectic spring. I have to admit though that I'm still not good at being alone and I still get lonely very quickly.
I posted my to-do list for this summer almost 3 months ago and I am very proud of myself because for the first time in my life I managed to do nearly all the things on the list. Anyway, here's the recap of my summer.
...for a picnic in Suomenlinna: I went with my sister, mother and godmother and we had such a nice time. We stayed for only a couple of hours, but I could have spent the whole day there!
...for a midnight swim: It wasn't quite midnight when we went but we found this little hidden place - it was so lovely and quiet.
...to the movies alone: Almost.. I got to the theatre too late and the machine wouldn't let me buy the ticket anymore so I went shopping instead. (Maybe I unconsciously sabotaged myself because didn't want to go alone hahah.)
...to or host a house party: Check!
...and watch a football game: We went to see the Brazil play against Costa Rica in the World Cup in St. Petersburg - it was absolutely amazing!
...to a concert: Years & Years at Ruis Rock.
...sup boarding: Nope, I didn't :(
...to an art gallery: David Hockney. My favourite piece was "Celia, smoking" because of its honesty and realness, it made me emotional looking at it - it was so soft but so rough at the same time.
...to Stockholm: I booked flights to England instead.
...on a road trip to Hanko: I went on a roadtrip and we drove past Hanko, does that count?
Meet new interesting people: Done, done and done! I met so many new, interesting people - some of who I never wish to meet again hahah. But that's all part of the fun and some people are meant to come into your life only to teach you something and then move on. One of the things I learned is that nobody should ever make you feel like you have to apologize for who you are or what you're passionate about - those type of people are toxic and there is no shame in admitting that you don't need someone like that in your life.
Make new friends: I met some amazing people this summer and I have to say it was such a pleasure to work with and become friends with such friendly and warm people.
Spend a day at the Swimming Stadium: Check!
Have photo shoots with new people: 1 "new" person, with whom I had a lot of very successful photoshoots with - you know who you are <3
Read at least 3 books: "Veitola", "Olin niin varma meistä" & "Muodin filosofia"
Decide which bag I'm buying next: Check!
Have a picnic on a boat: If drinking champagne on a boat in the early hours of the morning counts, then check!
Watch all the Harry Potter movies: Check!
Finish writing my bachelor's thesis (!!): Check! Goshh I was so relieved when I sent the final draft to my supervisor.
Find myself the perfect leather jacket: I found it, I just haven't bought it yet!
